I arrived at the solution "Conditional" OK, but cannot follow the logic of the clue, apart from the final part, which is self explanatory.
No doubt I will slap my pate when provided with the info!
The clue - "Nick a pound, based on stipulations" (11)
Please put my mind at rest!

in good nick = in good condition
conditional sentences depend on stipulations (if........) !

Thanks Greedy Kite!
So - nick = condition, as in "good nick" - followed by "a" and "L" as in the "£" symbol!
I'd more or less agreed with the "al" bit as well but "Nick" passed me by!
And so to bed.........
