As ever, I have a couple to get, and pointers would be welcome
3d. For this writer articles of one sort or another must be creative (10) P-O-E---A-
I want it to be proverbial, but I don't know why
18a Men long for vegetable (6) O-A--- I'm thinking a word for men (names), plus an L or perhaps a verb, to long, giving the name of a vegetable?
52d Mountain height from which poetic river can be seen (4) -L-H. No idea of this.

Oh, articles....me....the creative...pro.
The Alph one sparks some meory, but I wouldnt have got it, and the vegetable, no, I wouldnt know that either.

Hi smiffy,

In the military, OR means Other Ranks = men + ache = to long for
Orache is a leafy spinach type vegetable
