21d "experienced peacekeepers leaving for river"(7). D_R_E_T
25d "dog caught soldiers-American one"(5)- it must be CORGI, but why ? I can see GI for American soldier, but the rest causes a puzzlement!

Bunty - please explain further the "Derwent" answer. I know Derwent is the name of a river and I know leaving gets close to "went"
