Goood Afternoon, All.

A good crossword this week. The top left hand corner took a wee while to crack, and then I had to look for a bit of help from Quick Solve, for 6 Down.

3 Down might not be immediately obvious to the younger generation.

Hope all are well.

Hello Pipesmoker
I still have four to solve.
The first to go in was 17d and I immediately thought of you !!

Best wishes to all

I`m very far from the younger generation - but so far all I`ve got for 3d is a sugary confection, probably wrong. I`m not asking for help yet ! M.

OK - I was right. It would be more immediately obvious to the older generation of boys methinks ! M.

I said before the compiler has favourites.
7 ac is another. I only know this word from RT crosswords ! Quite a convulated clue I thought. M.

Hi everyone.
I don't normally pick the RT up until Thursday shopping, but this week I managed to pick it up yesterday.
I am totally baffled by 7ac and 2d any help would be appreciated.

best wishes

Should have said - I googled 2d and came up with Martingale, but have no idea what this has to do with a horse.

Hi lilacwine
7a is an SI unit of electrical capacitance.
(wordplay is "force" one of the armed services backwards) plus 2-letter abbr.for advertisement.
Martingale is a collar worn by a horse, as well as being a betting system.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Jazzgirl.
I did Quick solve on 7a but had two possibilities, now you have explained I have the answer.
Apologies to all for putting the answer to 2down, I thought it was wrong or I wouldn't have - honest.
