Good morning! Hope these few clues provide a little fun and perhaps some head-scratching. J

I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT) to allow others to have a go.

1. Minor’s bar? (5,8)
2. Cut back in your archaic treatment (7)
3. Heard how a root became a destiny fraught with difficulty (1,4,3,2,3)
4. Fade out of volume and sound (4)
5. Pen to add insult to injury (8)

Maybe these are easier this week - I usually struggle to answer any, but at the moment I've got 2, 3 and a v logical possibility for 4.

Super Joan! Glad to hear it's not too difficult this week. I try to set at different levels and, also, try to avoid obscure words. J

Got 2 right away, but what occurs to me for 1 may be wrong. Oh, that Joan. She's channeling Jolan (only takes an L for her).

Aristo - that's an 'L' of an aspersion from you.
I've come back to Jolan's clues and have made no progress.

Teehee. Just got back too, and ditto. I see you did Azed. Did you get the RASP wordplay (11a)?
