Got it - & it helped with the others so I'm done now - not sure how the title really comes into it?

Scarlett, congratulations - and thanks for the hint for 17 D. I think I've got it now - I was working on the wrong 3 letter synonym for 'bed'.

I'm finished too - and don't see the relevance of the title.

I don't have the puzzle but:-
37A is a very common kitchen/household item (I would not have thought of it as a crock, though I suppose it is). The clue; small table (cut short) + sort of square.

PS. The 'small table' is obscure enough to be the 'solution' to a clue.

GK - you've got a letter (your second 'a') wrong in 2 Down.
33 D. I kicked myself when I finally got this - think Twelfth Night.
32 A. It's an anagram of 'the'and a three letter word for 'struggle' - the definition is 'dip' and is nothing to do with water.

Can anyone who's done this tell me if the word to be shaded (referred to in the preamble) has six letters? I've finished the puzzle completely, but don't really see a link.I've got a possibility, but have no reasoning for it. Thanks.
