Local quiz, closing date tomorrow, and I've been stuck on these two for ages! They're 'stand-alone' clues, so no letters available.

1. Bankrupt round about - run madly! (9)

2. City of China (7)

Answers are cities of the world.

No 1. must be Bucharest

and I suspect No2. to be either Meissen or Dresden

City of China will probably be the name of a place that makes the stuff. Unfortunately I can think of more than one possibility - Limoges and Meissen are two that immediately spring to mind

I think Dick I's suggestion of Dresden is the most likely

Many thanks to both. I see Bucharest now. I had thought along similar lines for no.2 but couldn't find any way of deciding which city it should be, so felt I was on the wrong track. I had thought of rhyming slang - china (plate) = mate, but that didn't seem to lead anywhere.
