Hi Nanna,

Take the H out of THE -- it actually works two ways: it's the centre/heart of the word, but H also means Hearts as a suit in a card game.
Nancy is a French city.

...and the other one looks like QUIESCENT -- QUIT around an anagram of SCENE.
