5 down: Overwhelmed by hand written documents, I rush to get at least one letter out (8) M?S?P?L?

Answer is m {i) ss pell, I think. Where does the rush come in?

Any help welcome.

Also: 18 across: Settle down having rejected the premier spots (6)

I have ?n?a?p, so answewr is encampp, but cannot see the cryptic part. Cheers.

18 Across The premier is PM ans spots is ACNE - reverse them all gives ENCAMP

1a: To hang up's not the last resort: H-V-. Must be "have[n]". But why "to hang up". Mystified Martin.
