You're looking for Bob Mortimer.

Duck = BOB. Almost extra = MOR. Watch = TIMER.

Unless, of course, it's not RT34 you're up to...

Thanks for all the replies, I was afraid nobody would recognise the problem. No wonder I can't win a CD recorder after over 3 years trying. Actually after posting the query I had the inspiration to enter Bob Duck into google and the rest came easily after that, but thanks everybody - hope I can help you sometime.

PS has anybody any thoughts on when to post the entry to give oneself the optimum chance of success, early or late?

You might want to look at the thread What are the chances (Aug 10) and see the derision heaped upon my head for asking a similar intelligent question

1. Never late.

2. (I hope that !) they wait until the published competition closure date (note: John d'A) and then open randomly-chosen entries one-by-one until they find a correct one. If this isn't roughly what they do, we may have a http://www.ofcom.org.uk/tv/obb/prog_cb/obb94/">GMTV-style scandal on our hands.
