Does it really start with the word "on" or is that a typo...?

That is exactly how the clue is written. I did wonder myself if there was an error in the clue. It is the very last blank left in this week's Stamford Mercury crossword & it is frustrating to be stuck on one! This isn't a prize crossword so it doesn't really matter but I thought I would ask in case someone had any bright ideas.

The first thing I thought when I saw this clue is that Alsatian food has a reputation for being artery-clogging. Is the I definitely right? I was wondering if arteri meant something else and this was a play on words. Artery is artere in French, isn't it?

Yes, the 'i' is definitely right. I have everything else filled in.

I am beginning to think the the crossword compiler has made an error.

All will be revealed in next week's paper but thank you for your time in trying to help me to crack it!

Are you confident of the i? The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was born in Strasbourg in Alsace and his parents owned a bistro....

Could the second word be 'manger'? Seasonal and French for 'to eat' (in a bistro!)
