I can see THEOREM, but if it is ,why?

11a Vomers (homers - pigeons , change the H to a V) I think!
1d Obverse ( I have osmate for 1a)
Could be completely wrong though!

Dear Bunty, I have TARTAR for 1 ac., seems logical?

id is definitely OBVERSE (OB - old boys - alumni) so 1a must be osmate(OS is ordinary seaman)

I had tartar first when I did this puzzle last night but had to get the tippex out when things didn't fit!!

It's usually about 9pm but one week it was 12noon!
