This clue doesn't make any sense to me. Any pointer would be helpful...
25d A pound a piece of tobacco(4). I have -U-D. I think these are right.
A pound= AL? or ALB? Definition is something to do with tobacco? leaf?

Like you, I have never been near tobacco but the thought of chewing tobacco (which is what a "quid" is) seems to me to be worse than smoking the stuff!
