sorry Bernie. I remembered the answer, but couldn't find the xword. Have now found it. The clue was "putting on a diversion by armed criminals (2,6)

Hi debed, it is also helpful to see what letters you have and where in the answer, as not everyone does the RT crossword, but someone may be able to help.

The great "T" trombonist was more my father's era, but he was still going strong in the 60's I believe. He seems to pop up in crosswords quite a lot, because of his surname !
