Marksman worries about discharging rifle in the end -N-P-R.

Why is it SNIPER? Is it going to be a \'DOH!\' moment?

Hi Janie.

I think the wordplay for SNIPER is 'snipe' + 'r'.

'snipe' = anagram of 'pines' (worries about).
'discharging' = indicator of anagram.
'r' = abbreviation for rifle; this is appended to the other letters.

Alternatively, a better interpretation is probably...

'snipe' = anagram of 'pines' (worries).
'about' = indicator of anagram.
'r' = abbreviation for rifle; this is placed (discharged?) after the other letters.

Thanks for that. I had thought of anag of PINES, but had thought this was too weak.

I think the reasoning might be

"repine: To be discontented or low in spirits; complain or fret."

fret = worry.

worries = repines,about = backwards(seniper),discharging (rifle in the end) lose the "e".

Yes, Trevor, that makes more sense, thanks.

Obviously helps to have heard of the words you need to get the answer!
