Welcome to Clueless,our informal weekly clue-setting competition.
The idea is to compose a cryptic clue to a given word. The winner of the previous week's competition both sets the word to be clued and judges the entries. The judge's decision is final. Reasons may or may not be given at the judge's discretion. It is customary for the judge to donate a virtual prize - although there is likely to be a break with tradition this week as the judge does not have a clue where to source these prizes. (A sponsor,jws, may donate a prize shortly after the winning entry is announced.)It is hoped that congratulatory messages and the plaudits of the Clueless community will be adequate recompense.
