Thrust ISP into nothing 1 down(7) ... probably OBTRUDE ('o' + 'bt' + 'rude'). Now, I wonder what the answer to 1 down is?

Evens out bulk user (4) ??U? ... if the even numbered letters are taken away, this leaves BLUE.

Is there a colour-theme to the crossword? If so, the last answer may be NOIR which is hidden in the word marionette.

First composition in biro ... BIOPIC ('bic'=biro around 'i'=1 and 'op'=opus).

The theme seems to be film genres: blue, biopic, noir etc...
