This looks so simple but I just can't get it. 1 Down,Everyone in competition working for visit.4,4

I have -A-L OPEN. Presumably the first word is -ALL but what is the first letter?

Please put me out of my stupidity.
Many thanks.

Oh, yes, Mamya, thank you. I was just assuming OPEN because of the "competition" element. Your answer is obviously the correct one.
Thanks again,

Hi Wombat.

IDOMENEO is a Mozart opera ('i' + 'do' + 'e' with 'omen' inside).
