I think your 't' is wrong - the answer looks like 'maybe'/perhaps. 'May', the month, part of spring and 'be' from 'tie-beam'.

Hi Chips, not sure but the clue to 27ac is Stab with old-fashioned carpenter's instrument and I put set square, but it may be something else.

There really is a TEE-SQUARE.
It slides along the straight edges of the draughtsmans drawing board giving straight vertical or horizontal guiders.
This one is a bit tricky
Never come across NUTMEGGING before
