I've finished crossword but missed wordplay on two clues.

Yellow bomb tossed up when a disorderly mob intrudes GAMBOGE

Gamboge means yellow, I can see disorderly MOB but not 'bomb tossed up'

Shakesperian character half the students go off _E_R . Lear is what jumps out why?

Could Lear be half of learners?

a bomb - could be 'egg' raised round jumbled 'a mob'

I hope that I haven't misled you there, Mog. I believe that when I was a boy I read of Grenades being referred to as eggs in war comics.

Twm, not at all. I checked in Chambers before my reply. It gives 'bomb or mine' as a definition of egg.
