Good morning. Hope this 'mixed bag' will provide a little entertainment. J

I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT+1) to allow others to have a go.

1. Added to a green colour mixer (9)
2. Sailors in the crosstrees indicating surrender? (5,2)
3. An unprincipled person following obtrusively religious craft (7)
4. Characteristic of credit (9)
5. Old grounds without changing rooms go on surcharging most unexpectedly (6)

Thanks Jolan for another set of skilful clues.
If one of the answers is an alternate spelling then I believe I've solved all five.
Commitments allowing I hope to be back here about 6ish and will check in then.

Hi Jolan/Tony

I agree- very good clues.

What one do you think is an alternate spelling Tony?

Not really an alternative spelling but not the usual for No 1.

Cheers.

Lovely to 'see' you Tony. Missed your presence for last few weeks. Correct! It's not an 'alternative' spelling as it's listed in Chambers under my usage including 2 other versions AND the one in normal usage. So I've no doubt you've solved them all.

Nice to 'see' you too, djawhufc.

Hope they're not too easy/obvious this week. I try to vary the difficulty and use a spread of clue-types. You'll never see Arucaria-like clues from me. I like to keep 'em fairly straightforward.

Off to the nearest town now for a bit of shopping.

See you later

Hi again Jolan

I think ixion has given the correct answers
and I can only add my understanding of the wordplay-
1) extravert - mixer...EXTRA (added) to VERT(green colour)
2) hands up - indicating surrender ...HANDS (sailors/crew) UP (in the crosstrees)
3) Pirogue - craft...PI (religious) ROGUE (unprincipled person)
4) Attribute - double definition
5) Grouts - Old word for grounds...Subtractive anagram GO ON SURCHARGING MOST less (without) CHANGING ROOMS.

Sorry for being late. Got a wee bit delayed. Well done, Ixion. All spot-on.
Tony,
Thanks a million for the excellent analysis (as usual). Hope you enjoyed 'em.

Ta also Peterm. Glad to see it was not too easy.

Bless all

J
