Hi Puzzled
I am not sure at all that the answer is Hampton Court, which is why I put a "?" after my answer.

My obscure reasoning was that David Lloyd owns/owned the Hampton Sports Club, which seems to specialise in Tennis.

So Hampton Court (for tennis). Very tenuous I know and probably incorrect.

I sometimes think that people are going to arrive one day, throw a large net over me and take me away in a yellow van.

I thought Hampton Court but as I had no idea of the connection it was too vague. With your 'provenance' its a good 'un.
