Ah Pastille,I see that your new thread has disappeared into the ether.
Hope it was not one of my postings that caused its sudden demise.

Perhaps it was the stilettos. By the way, when you think about it, they're rather like little peglegs, aren't they? The pirate connection...

More like the original stiletto, a small sharp knife. The weapon of a coward.

Aristo
I think he means the shape of the high heels.
I am sure that this how they came to be known as stilettos.
They can also do considerable damage to a person when wielded by the owner!

I know that that's why they're called stilettos (no shortage of street gangs over here); I thought the coward comment had some significance I was missing.

I am not too sure of the "coward's weapon"but can only surmise that is easily secreted by the assailant and drawn very quickly.
I think they originated in Italy/Sicily and were a favoured weapon of the mafia.

Yes Trevor,I enjoyed the Persiflage thread. It was like old times again, entering the realms of the absurd, plus a little naughtiness.
I really can't see why it was obliterated.
I feel that there is an awful injustice here,in that we should be afforded some information eg : Who has objected and to what post the objection has been made.
Also it would be common courtesy to enter a post stating that the thread had been removed, perhaps even giving the reason.
