Can anyone help with 22D?
Spell? With this it'll make Scots mingle.
I have SP_S_
Obviously looks like SPASM but can't see it!

I know 'spasm' can mean 'spell', but I don't get the Scots bit.I think your answer's right, but it'd be good to know the reasoning!

With sp as m, spell becomes mell, which is Scottish for mingle.

Beat me to it! Mell is given as 'mix' in my Scots dictionary, though its parentage may not be Scots. 30a is mnas, so spasm it is.

I've gone for dude, as in the Jeff Bridges character in the film The Great Lebowski. In French, du is of the and de can mean some. I'm not wholly convinced though.
