Hi again,

Am also a bit unsure about 18d (7) 'Hector getting more rude about weight'. I've got
b-u-t-r and can't decide between 'bluster' and 'blunter'. grateful for any thoughts.

Yes - I can see the link with 'bluster' and hector, but where is the idea of weight? Also, more rude made me lean towards 'blunter' as in very direct.

I've just seen it! It's 'bluster' right enough - bluer (more rude) with 'st' (weight) inside.
