Can anyone please put me out of my misery?

It's the last one -41 across Process of becoming fluid (12)

I have -I-U-F-Y-I-N

I immediately thought it was 'liquification' which doesn't fit and there's the 'Y' from '29 down 'Ghostly' to contend with. (Which I hope is correct). Quick Solve can't help me and I'm getting annoyed with myself. Grrrr.

Oh Scarlett - thank you!! I didn't much like 'ghostly' and should have given it more thought. Annoyingly, I did the rest of the crossword without cheating (except for 11 down) yet I couldn't get a simple word like liquefaction! Am v. embarrassed now...

dont be, I cant do lots of them this time, like 13 across, in a state of desperation! well perhaps i'll be in that state if I dont get it soon! any help would be great!
