Apologies if these have already been answered elsewhere (is there a Search facility on this forum? If so, where is it?).

I've really struggled with this crossword, but have now got it down to the last three clues. I think all the letters I have are correct:

44a: One who'll be military commander and King for a period (7)
O - T - - - R

45d: Altogether a large old creature (7)
- - F - E --

56a: Informally, pass returns on, revealing all shortly (5)
D - N - -

All help gratefully received. Is it just me, or has anyone else found this crossword a real stinker?

Thanks everyone. I can work out why it's buffalo, but please can you explain the others?

Re 'Dunno' ...
'Informally,pass' = dunno (I don't know, pass)
'returns on'= no (on,backwards)
'revealing all shortly' = nud(e)

OC (Officer Commanding) 'to be' plus Rex.

...and no, there isn't a search facility.
