Tinpot, but I take no credit for getting it. I had to resort to the guy who posts the completed puzzle on his website every day.

Hi there.

On the assumption that there is an apostrophe in the clue before the 's' of 'points', then an explanation might be that TINPOT (= 'paltry') is an anagram of 'point' + the last letter of the word 'argument'.
