Thanks djawhufc you were right. I didn't like todays puzzle and I fail to see why Escort from falling house (21dn) produces the answer Usher other than to usher is to escort. Why the falling house?

I got 'usher' because I'd heard of 'the fall of the house of Usher'. i didn't know how I knew this, but I've just googled it - there's an Edgar Allen Poe story, 'The Fall Of The House Of Usher' which must have been lodged somewhere in my brain!
