A wee row of asterisks isn't quite as dramatic or exciting as a good old drum roll, but it's better than nothing!

Well I had a darned good go at this and never, ever would have got No. 12.

I don't really understand No. 1. I got WE but thought it was to do with WE CARDINALS which I googled and found some American ball game which they play. THEA what was the "East and West" reference?

There are many reasons why I don't like the answer to No. 10 (one of them is the fact that I didn't get it right!)

Not sure if I liked this THINGY or not but at least it kept me amused.

Looking forward to the cryptic.

Thanks Chrisg,

I know they're compass points but have never heard them referred to as "cardinal points" until now.

I find it quite amusing that I got the answer right, but for the wrong reasons!!!

How did you get on with the THINGY?

Chrisg,

I was about the same but, being honest, was never THAT certain about all of them - too many imponderables for my liking. It's for that reason that I have great trouble doing a non-cryptic crossie because there are so many possible answers.
