If CONVERSE is right for 26D then 43A starts with an E and n51A starts with an S.

Thanks for these. I like them. I got CONVERSE by default almost. The clue was 'interpret' (8) and the letters I had were C?N??R?E I didn't like CONVERSE but was stuck for an alternative. Just hit me - CONSTRUE!!! thanks for the help.
