I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT+1) to allow others to have a go.

1. Making small cuts can be frightening (10)
2. Holds back without body braces (10)
3. Tissue of lies primarily breaks enthusiastic former lover? (7)
4. Tipples removed from working spaceships lest they're drunk after coffee (7)
5. The French and Germans use it to express agreement with commission employed to receive defunct messages (5,5)

I'm having some troubles with my computer today (hence the late posting). I may not be able to get on-line at 5, so if there's no response from me, please understand. Happy solving! J

Brilliant Tony - I just could not get the first two although of course it's obvious now,I went completely bonkers with cashew - got the 'w' in from working - totally wrong.
Never come across chasses before and I've done my share of drinking!

Hi Barry

It was all a bit of a rush as when I logged on earlier this morning Jolan hadn't posted his clues.
Got there in the end though and will enjoy a glass of something refreshing now.
Cheers.

Hi all.
Just got back from my nearest computer shop (30 miles away) with a new keyboard. All OK the noo. The weird things that were happening this morning made me hope a virus hadn't wiggled its way in. But no. I recognised the fault as being keyboard. Phew!

Well Tony
Barrycat summed it up neatly. Excellent answers and explanations, as usual. Good try HelenB. Thanks for having a go.

Hi Jolan - well done as usual.

Particularly well done to Tony as I'd never have got the Chasses answer.

30 miles to get a keyboard eh? I'd have neeeded to go to Guernsey to use up those miles!!!

Hi Wendy
Yes! Tony's brill. The 30 miles is the (cheap) price of living in wild Wales.
Off to dinner now
Bless, all
