I think there are almost 300 Greek islands.I am sure you will get a list from google.

I too have tried those to no avail,it must be cryptic but cannot see it.

Same here.. the Wiki site is excellent, Bradford's isn't helping and my "cheater" isn't coming up with anything. Very few islands beginning with R.

Maybe it's the name of a famous Greek islander e.g. Shelley

Good idea jazzgirl. What's the Times Jumbo cryptic like today ? I was rather thinking I might do my OWN crossword now ... err or the dishes.

I've done 3/4 of it, but am having a bad day, in between entertaining visitors, so might start again tomorrow! Getting 2d helps a lot :)

I came on this when I saw there had been an 8th reply to the greek clue which I'd been thinking about for ages. Jazzgirl didn't ask you for the answer to 2d - she already has it. I haven't even started the cryptic yet. Best not to do this with some others on this site.
