stress is another word for Force
so it's ID + stress - lock in (bring together)
Not a very good clue though

i'd guess that it is a poor attempt at an &lit clue.
the other clue seems pretty crap too,the definition seems to be courage(although the rest of the clue clearly gives 'Timidly).
without purpose = idly.
surely the word 'without'(or a synonym) needs repeating before the word 'courage'?

maybe i have self-medicated above and beyond and am less sense than a pork chop!
