I'm finding it bloody impossible. It's really tricky when you don't have it. I don't think my oujia board is working properly.

Is 14a DUNSTABLE? 'Demand payment from firm in town' I can see the reasoning behind the last part but not the beginning

That's new to me, thank you! So I think I'm right with 5d being Cheeriest, and does that mean 13a is Screaming? It kind of seems to fit...

You are right with both. CHEERIEST comes from the man (HE) inside church (CE) with an anagram of TRIES. SCREAMING is celebrate (SING) going over the top (CREAM)
