I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT+1) to allow others to have a go.

1. Physically join forces to follow a football team (8)
2. Continued broadcast in NW England (7)
3. A cleaner type of defender? (7)
4. Bear wrecked the express (7)
5. Former way to get in (6)

Hi Jolan

Excellent clues as always- these are my solutions- hopefully the right ones!

1- Manually- Physically is definition- Ally (join forces) after Man U (football team)
2- Preston- (sounds like pressed on or continued). It is a city in NW England
3- Sweeper- dd- a defender and a broom or cleaner
4- Breathe- anagram of bear with the afterwards
5- Latest- In is definition as in fashionable. Former= Late and way=St together makes latest

Thanks for all your efforts
