The clue as shown in the paper reads:

'Thgil' car part.

and produces the answer - reversing light.

Ta v much Terry- having the full clue sure does make it much more clearer & much more helpful!Have not the Mail so just went with clue given which was only in part. Regards, Simon

How so, if it is a Mail crossword?Trevor is this right- number of letters were not in brackets next to clue?

Sigh, indeed, Terry!Definitely did not see the paper as usually only buy a Mail on a Sunday- their crosswords always have numbers in brackets next to clue too.

The number of letters were printed in the paper. I only gave the answer because you were barking up the wrong tree - through no fault of your own.
