For anyone who doesn't get the ST in this weeks crossword 3, 8, 22 & 23 down don't have any clues. They have something to do with 'Four' or 'Fours' because of the crossword number being 4444 and are maybe connected to one of the following - menswear, type of fuel, delicacies, advanced age, a card game, firm and resolute. I cannot think of 3 or 8 down. 3 has 5 letters and I've got Q?A?E and 8 has 4 letters and I've got C?R?. So any help appreciated.

3d I think is quave- as in quaver. 8d I think is core as in core root. I'm stuck on 22d and 20d if you can help?

3d (fours) QUARE - resolute

8d (fours) CORE - advanced age

22d PETIT (fours) - delicacies

23d PLUS (fours) - menswear

3 down quare

20 down C(him)era i.e. anagram of race

Thanks Julie! 20d has been driving me potty! All I need now is 19a and I'm done! P.L.C.D. I think I'm being daft... but in my defence I've done a full day at work today too :)
