Hi Azed solvers. Can you confirm my belief that there is a spelling mistake in the first word of the clue to 1 down.

I think it should be 'cercopid' rather than 'cecropid' or am I missing some nuance here?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecropia. Don't know if it will help as I don't do that particular crossword, so don't know the clue.

According to Chambers, a cercopid is any insect of the froghopper family.
No entry for the other word

Cercopid is a spit bug, eg cuckoos spit, again don't know how much help that is.

Thanks folks - I think that confirms that the clue is spelt incorrectly. I was thrown by an entry for cecopria in Chambers, which relates to a tree. Sorry if this appears a bit anal. It is, rather, now I think about it.
