To those following the Times thread. I have the answer.
I learnt two french songs at Primary School, one being Sur le pontd'Avignon, the other being Un elephant qui se balancait.
As the lyrics came back to me I realised they were to two different tunes.

I humbly apologise to Miss Kiley and ask her to forgive me on what must be her 115th birthday
