Hi all,

26a) Bird third from top - try feeding it (10) S _ E _ R _ A _ E _

Must be SHEARWATER, try = hear, feeding = ate ?
Can't see the word play with the rest (third from top),
I know it can also be spelt Sheerwater, but still can't see the connection

Any explanation would be welcome, Thanks

The top is sweater. Take the third letter from it - e. Try - hear "feeding" it
