Missing one letter. 30a: Old gown when worn out has lady ripped? (5) I have MA_TO. I'm guessing MANTO but don't see why. There are also three very obvious answers with not-so-obvious wordplay (10a, 17a, and 21a, but I'll ruminate for a bit... Ah! Is it WOMAN TORN minus WORN? Or (more accurately) MANTO with WORN around it?
