we need more of a clue than that!

2across, salad ingredient- a type of 14 down,
20 down a type of 14 down, answer to that one is Squash, and so it goes,ie 11across, 15 across,18 down, cant explain any better, need to look at crossword to see what I mean,thank you for any ideas, 14 down clue is edible plant.

Thank you for those few answers .I'm not much of a vegie ,if you can help me or anyone else I still need 2 down if my others are correct , I'm still looking for a salad ingredient -n-i-e.
