I would say the door is on the latch rather than the door is on the catch

Sorry to disappoint you, but the answer expected when you enter the puzzle online is CATCH ON.

I put LATCH ON as well, but it was flagged as an error.

I would think that they will have to accept either answer.

I did this this morning and realized that it could be both.Surely to latch on is to accompany and not understand.

it can also mean - understand.
