Can anyone come up with the answer to 25across? The clue is "Ascot may be gripped by this closest of races with fast pace" (3,4).
Thanking you all in anticipation.

I cannot say that I am over-enamoured with as the answer to 21across (tie being the closest of races?? and a fast pace being a clip??). Can anyone come up with a better reason to insert this answer into the crossword matrix.
Whilst we are on the subject, can anyone give the reason why the answer to 17down "Man that's cut about the ear gets disorganised" is and why the answer to 21across "Soldier perhaps infiltrated by good English spy" is .
I have my doubts and have found this DT saturday crossword more difficult to get my head around than most of the others.
Once again, thanking you in anticipation of a response. H VII.

Well Hawk thingy, you might not like tie clip but that could be because you don't know that ascot is a type of tie,you know, those things you tie around your neck. A bit less moaning and a bit more saying thanks wouldn't go amiss by the way.
It's hard to comment on the other two answers as you haven't said what they are.
