Some clues are baffling me:

During exam I start to make smart material for moulds (6,5) ; P?P??? ?????

Make reporter out to be an advocate of Britain in Europe (3-9); ?R? ??R?????R

Plot to strike brings pandemonium ; ?E????

Son on ecstasy overwhelmed by indolence and corruption ; ???A?????S

I thought the first one might have been papier mache but I can't work it out. I also thought that the first word of the second might be pro(advocate) but don't seem to be able to get any other parts.
Thanks for any help and explanations.

Thanks for that help HelenB.
Those letters mean that I had help for the final 10 or so clues. Having looked at those, I think that in this clue:

Believe press use this to influence the economy (6,7); C???I? ??????E

That the first word is credit but am struggling with the other part.
Also, in this clue:

Small cafe owned by me in unfinished housing development ; E???M????

I thought that it might be an anagram of smallcafe but can't think of an unfinished housing development.
Thanks again for the help HelenB but could you please explain the bedlam clue? Also any ideas on the others would be greatly appreciated.
