Sorry, should have been 'biffed' - past tense of 'biff' which means to strike hard. I settled on it because it had 'fib'(great tale) in it. I could be wrong, of course - I often am!
Am not having a great day - sorry for this info coming in dribs and drabs. Have just checked my Chambers and 'def' means excellent,brilliant - so I suppose 'fib' is tale and 'fed' is great, spin them about a bit and you get 'biffed'.
