Excellent, Julie. I could only think of iceberg, but that's not very romantic. A new thought for St Valentine's Day, though. A dozen green lettuces.

Hi Pipesmoker !
I would welcome just one iceberg lettuce on St Valentine's day - it would cost over £1 in February. Anyway as I'm a year younger than you I'm unlikely to get anything.

I thought you'd by too busy hoovering today to be on here.

I'm thinking the for-get-me-nots are in flower now ?

I don't see the log-in prompt on the RHS - this might go straight through?

Hi, Julie,

You are just a girl. The forget me not thing was merely a guess. My knowledge of flowers or anything to do with gardening is nonexistent.

I have keen gardeners on either side of me. I pay a guy £10 every fortnight to cut the grass. My ideal garden would be one which is covered in tarmac where I could store old cars.

At £1 for an iceberg in February, I bet it would still be cheaper than a single red rose, and much more practicable.

Hoover? Is that yon funny green thing that says Dyson on it? I always wondered what it was for.

Best wishes, meantime.

Yes Billy T?
I was just checking out Michaelmas Day on another website - its celebrated on 29th September - the autumn equinox - so that fits with the autumnal part of the clue.
