oiled - is all i can think of but i'm not very sure.

6d. clue should be "drunk usually well before it (5). oiled.

Does 6d follow on from the previous clue? It could be OILED but I can't see the word-play.

FAO Vi - the clue was typed exactly as it was in the crossword and followed 4d.

Monkey,i don't need to tell you that an Ape is also a Primate.
x is used as an unknown (or variable) in maths.

I don't doubt you megan. your paper must have a misprint. well is in my copy.
