I think it's ARENA but apart from RE and N why is AA a gossip?

I only know it because it was an answer to another crossword I did a while ago, and it sort of stuck in my mind!

Just looked it up in the Oxford online Thesaurus - it's defined as 'anecdotes or literary gossip about a person'. You certainly live and learn. Once again, many thanks, it was driving me nuts!
